Mrs. Atkins holds librarians in high regard. She expressed her admiration for the dedication and care librarians provide to everyone during the HCPS Librarian Appreciation Event.
The Henrico Democratic Party organized a forum for Henrico County School Board candidates, incorporating a segment for questions and answers involving the audience. This gathering featured Mrs. Atkins and other candidates from Fairfield, and Three Chopt districts.
The Henrico NAACP 7077B hosted its Annual Freedom Fund Banquet - The Right Fight. This event recognized impactful community leaders. Mrs. Atkins was recognized as a community leader who proactively advocates for issues that ensure all persons receive political, social, and economic equality and eliminate racial hatred and discrimination.
Outstanding, inspiring work is happening in school communities across the Commonwealth all of the time. The Virginia PTA recognizes the dedication, leadership, and advocacy work that has positively affected the community, local school board policies, or state legislation and regulatory policy. Mrs. Atkins was honored for inspiring parents, educators, and community members to take action for all children. She empowers parents through education and identifying and creating opportunities to provide input to HCPS. Her accessibility actively fosters a welcoming environment that makes advocacy feel like a casual conversation and inspires parents to live the PTA mission.
Highland Springs High School is located in the Varina District of Henrico County. The Henrico County Board of Supervisors, the Henrico School Board, and other guests paid tribute to the next generation of Springers during the new HSHS ribbon-cutting ceremony. Mrs. Atkins, an alumnus of Highland Springs High School, ended her closing remarks with the school motto, “Once a Springer, always a Springer.”
On July 23, 2020, The United States recorded its second straight day with more than a thousand Covid-19 deaths. During the Henrico County School Board meeting, Mrs. Atkins shared her remarks about next steps for Henrico County Public Schools.
The Graduating Class of 2020 were honored with a Graduation Victory Lap on the America’s Premier Short Track at Richmond Raceway. Graduates and their immediate family members paraded in their vehicles around the historic oval. Mrs. Atkins created and shared this video with students, families, and staff prior to the event to “Get It Started.”
Mrs. Atkins continuously supports activities that foster love, learning, and fun. Students, staff, and community were ready as Mrs. Atkins welcomed families to Fairfield Middle School and the Annual Lupus Step Show and Dance Showcase.
Mrs. Atkins is a proud Parent Teacher Association (PTA) supporter. Alicia shares the benefits of PTA and encourages families to join. The mission of the PTA is nestled deeply within Mrs. Atkins.
